Night Sights

Has anyone on the forum sent thier night sites back to Trigicon to get them refurbished. I have a set on a Glock with a date of 2002.Wondering if it would be worth the effort & expense. TIA.

I did this a short time ago with a S&W 3913 - the sights came back looking like new for $54 + priority mail shipping of the slide to Trijicon. Call Trijicon first for a return authorization number.

I'd buy new bright combat sights or night sights about 2/3 years before they may start to dim.
I've owned & used a few pistols with Trijicon sights.
Some gunners or "old hands" may scoff at the prices but I say; Its cheaper than a casket.

CLYDE. Its my understanding that Trijicon refurbishes there sights to new condition. .Has there been a change or a big improvement since 2002 ? I am not familiar with there sights & did not think they changed that much . I have not called Trijicon yet, but will. I will ask about the quality of the refurbished sights. Thanks for the input. If the pistol night sights are around 9 years old; 2002-2011, it may be time to replace them.
To my understanding Trijicons are rated to stay fully bright for at least 12 years. If they still work fine then keep them. If they are not bright, get a new set.
To upgrade or service a carry or duty pistol is not really a major issue.

I have them on one of my 1911s.

Dead now, and I been meaning to call Trijicon, just not gotten around to it.

They lasted about 17 years. But when they died, they died fast.

Very satisfied.

I wonder if you were to send a slide to them without night sights, if they would install them, you know, first time?

I called Trijicon today (I guess my post motivated me) and for $54.00 they will take my 1911 slide (which I ship to them) and take care of the dead tritium sights (they call them lamps) and ship it back to me, all within 3 to 6 weeks.

$54.00

Gonna do it.

I shipped my 1911 slide to Trijicon today (May 31).

They told me 3 to 6 weeks; $54 to replace the dead lamps and $13 shipping and insurance at the Post Office.

Just wondering;
What color lamps did you request?
I've heard & read that the green dots are the brightest/longest lasting.
I think I'd get the green rear sights with a orange front post.

I ordered all green.

That's what I had originally and they lasted 17, (that's s-e-v-e-n-t-e-e-n) YEARS!

The slide I sent to Trijicon on June 1, which had a 3 to 6 week return guarantee, arrived today, June 22.

21 days.

3 weeks.

I just buy and install new sights (I prefer the Meprolights), and sell the "old" sets on Ebay. Last couple of sets I sold went for about half of what the new sets cost ($35-40). Those old sights paid for both my sight tools too.
