can for 9mm ar

I just finished building my RRA lower with a RRA parts kit. My upper and all the other parts should be here tomorrow. i also have a hahn precision top loading conversion block and 5 modified uzi mags.
Questions:
1. is it cheaper to do the sbr paperwork and cut mine down about an inch or two in front of the front site assembly, three lug it or thread it and buy the can ? or
2. buy a dedicated suppressed upper so i can swap out ($1000.00 plus 2 tax stamps)? or
3. build a suppressed upper with 5 inch barell and buy the can ?

also which can ? do i need one for a submachine gun or can i buy a pistol can in 9mm and use it.

i would like to come out as cheap as possible but this is the only 9mm i have.

thanks
