IMR 4064 and .300 WSM

I'm looking for some load information for a 180gr bullet in .300 WSM using IMR 4064, but I'm drawing a blank. The old IMR site I found doesn't list the WSM and the current Hodgdon site to which I was transferred doesn't list IMR 4064.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Not in Lyman, either.
4064 is fast burning for such a large case, probably why they didn't bother with it.

Yep too fast.

Here's a few suggestions if you want:

Ramshot HUNTER
VihtaVuori N560

Either one will get you 3000 fps @ 24"

I use IMR 4064 in my .375 H&H. Works great.

375 is not "overbore" (capacity versus bore size) like the 300WSM. 4350 Class or slower.

IMR4064 is a good powder in the 308 Win. Its really pretty fast for the 300WSM

4064 in 300 WM

Lyman 44th Edition, 180 grain jacketed bullet;
starting load, 56.0, v= 2590
max 62.5, v= 2840
All testing done with Winchester 120 primers.
This was published in the late 1960's so the 4064 of today may not be the 4064 of your father.

Even if you find data for 4064 it won't give you good results in 300 WSM.

I got best accuracy with H4350 in my 300 WSM. RL17 is supposed to be a good choice too. But if you try RL17 do it with a chronograph and caution. They show max loads considerably faster than other powders. In some rifles it works fine. In mine I reached a point where I was getting speeds exceeding what was expected 2-3 gr below book max with over pressure signs.
