More steps then buying a gun here in Alaska, but not to many hoops to jump through. Buy or order your suppressor. Get the packet from local law enforcement and interview with backgrounds. They give the recommendation after all backgrounds check to police chief. They sign off. Then send in your Form 4s with $200 check to ATF. We now have four states that you can have them. Kansas just approved legislation.

Missouri is supposed to be approving them starting in August is what I hear. I've been eye balling the walther .22 pistol suppressor combo. I also want one for my AR. I can't wait for August.

One of my customers is peeved about the interview, being he is a Doctor and says that he is already approved for dangerous stuff, like narcotics....

Me, I have'nt had time to get mine done yet and since I am on the Shop Tax stamp, I just keep it on the books Saves me $200

Even though you only need two references to attest to your non dangerousness on ou Local LE sign off application (my two longest and bestst buddies), my attached list includes two FFLs, four physicians, both ATF agents, a DEA agent, an FBI agent, two ICE Agents, a former Lt Col, a former candidate for Governor, 6 APD officers, three real estate developers, five CEOs, Spiff, and my mom...

Its my way of saying...why are you bothering? The last time I referenced for a 747 pilot and they asked me whether him having a .22 Supressor would be a danger, I gently reminded them that if he wanted to be a danger, he would just crash that 747 into Downtown Anchorage.....

It's all CYA stuff anyway

If you listed Spiffy on your app that might cause problems.

Wouldn't forming a trust avoid all the interview hassle?

Actually there are WAY more than 4 states that allow suppressors. I think there's only around 15 states that ban them outright...

In Washington the law reads that they are unlawful to use, but it says absolutly nothing about owning, buying, selling, or making them. which is kind of odd, because for automatic knives, it says you can not buy, sell, own, possess, manufacture or dispose of one. So if you somehow found yourself in the state with one, you are screwed cause you can't even get rid of it!
