30/30 Revolver? Anybody?

I was just browsing the internet for handguns when I stumbled on this: Magnum Research BFR .30/30 Winchester Revolver

$1,050.00

http://www.magnumresearch.com/Expand...tCode=BFR30-30

Have any of you experienced this interesting revolver?

Not in the 30-30 but I've shot the 45-70. Didn't care for the grip to be honest. Other than that, extrememly well made.

A 45-70 handgun? Did the thing weigh 10 lbs. or did it come up over the top of your head when you shot it?!?

I wasn't as heavy as I thought it would be but it's still a chunk of steel. Much easier to control than a Contender in 45-70

More comfortable than the Contender but loses velocity due to the barrel gap and long bullet jump to the forcing cone. A .30 Carbine Blackhawk rechambered to the .30 Streaker or .300 GNR is better option. The .38-55 Winchester BFR is a really sweet shooting piece of iron.

I own a 45/70 BFR. Indeed the recoil is not that bad. I would dare say that my guide gun has more perceived recoil than my BFR with the same loads... I know I cant explain it but at least to me that is how it feels.

I find that I loose about 250-325 FPS compared to my guide gun. You loose more with the lighter bullets than with the heavier ones.

The BFR has a 10 inch barrel the guide gun is 18 inch. Both guns are very accurate.

I have shot the 30/30 before and it felt very light to me

p.s. if you really want that gun I would suggest looking at places online like Buds Gun shop because its usually cheaper than the factory.

all 26 of my guns are 45/70 govt, 357 mag, 22 or 12 ga... I believe in keeping it simple. Wish my wife did as well...

Shoot some factory ammo late dusk or very early dawn for an interesting light show!

Recoil on the .45-70 BFR isn't all that bad, really. Given the low pressure nature of most .45-70 loads, it's a lot more pleasant than a .500 Smith or even most of the .454 Cassuls I've shot over the years.

Sounds like an interesting variation of the "handgun and long gun chambered in the same caliber" concept.
