Red Dot Sight

How effective would a 30mm red dot sight be for hunting small game??

As long as the dot is 1MOA or the critter is close, it'll be fast and deadly.

The larger 6MOA dots can obscure squirrels and such at longer ranges.

For pistol I would say ideal at close range for rifle I would still go with a scope

I've got a 30mm red dot with a 3moa dot that I have switched around to several different guns. I too would recommend staying with a small dot so as not to cover up the whole critter, I zero mine for point of impact at the top center of the dot at 50 yds when on a .22 for rabbits and squirrels, put the red dot right below the bunnies eye and out go the lights.

It depends on the distance you shoot. I have a nikon monarch red dot THIS ONE
and I love it. You can change the dot size, so you can adjust to different situations. It is a squirrel slayer.

throw one on your scattergun. I've got an Aimpoint on my 1187 and it's a dove's version of Anti-aircraft

Never thought to put a red dot on a shotgun, but I'm going to try it. It makes a lot of sense, plus if you had one with the circle reticle maybe you could even estimate the pattern.
