I have 3 .410's that I shoot almost as much as my 28 gauges. Remember that you will only be able to shoot 2 1/2" shells out of the Marlin lever gun. It is not designed for 3" shells. They also have rifle type sites on them, not conducive to pointing at flying targets like birds or clays. More for aiming for slug use.

I would normally comment that the 410 is an abomination unto shotgunning. Obviously dreamt up by an englishman partaking heavily of gin. (A Scotsman would have made a 28)!

But the lever action 410 is intriguing. Perhaps this is the proper platform for the Idiot gauge. An excellent close range truck gun for social occasions? Perhaps a remedy for pesky varmints that lack the mobility and sense to vacate the area? The ultimate snake charmer? Rabbit hunting? Thieving teenagers (With rock salt of course)?

At least they havn't ruined an otherwise fine double.

410 guage shotguns.

I have owned numerous 410 guage shotguns, my current one :Remington 1100 is a proven format. I took all my pheasants last fall shooting a stout load of #5 lead shot out to 40 +yards. I can tote it all day long, with no fatigue, recoil is negligible, it's just plain fun to shoot!

Only time for my 12 guage is duck season, for all other wingshooting a 410 will fill my needs.

I think the lever 410 is a gimick,I would suggest a 30-30 lever and a real shotgun like a pump, over under,or a double.I like a 410 and own several, doubles being my favorite. My only dislike is the ripoff price of the shells.I took care of that by reloading 444 marlin cases to 410 specks. I now have cases I can't wear out and shells are less than $2.00 a box, plus you dont need a reloader to do it.If anyone is interested in how I do this I would be happy to post it.

I have a Ithika SuperSingle in .410. It's a great gun for squirrels, pheasant, and especially pigeons. Actually, i took a couple pigeons with it today using #4 birdshot. I just wish i had a second shot sometimes, still looking for that used auto/pump....

410 Shotgun

When I was 17, my dad bought me a second-hand Stevens Bolt Action 410, I have hunted with this gun for years, Rabbit and other small game and it shoots as well today as it did when my Dad bought it for me. I have had his gun for 43 Years and it is still a great 410.

870 Pump

My absolute favorite .410 is a Remington 870 Express pump. It can effectively deliver squirrel medicine out to 45 yards using 3 inch shotshells.
