Medium size 9mm recommendations?
"Medium" size - about like a Glock 19.
1) I'm partial to DA/SA guns. 2) I'd like a gun w/ a nice 4 to 5 pd SA pull, right out of the box, no need for a trigger job. 3) good accuracy, few stoppages, not ammo temperamental. Any standouts come to mind? Thanks

CZ P-01, CZ P-07, more towards the P-01 or CZ PCR, as the perfect midsize gun, if you don't mind a decocker hammer fired. The P-07 can be switched by the user from decocker to standard safety.
My personal picks from personal experience. |

I think Sig P239 also is a good choice. It's more expensive than Glock. But I also believe, that most of the time we get what we pay for. It's heavier to carry, but also heavier to shoot.(recoil matters).

I had a PX4 Storm, interesting mechanism. I couldn't shoot it well, but that was all me - my landlord was able to do very well with it.
Edit to correct - I thought it was the compact, but it was the full size model. Last edited by armoredman; December 8, 2014 at 05:11 PM. |

Out of the box, the CZ P-07 trigger is better than the P-01/PCR.
I haven't fired the Sig 229, but if the trigger is the same as the 226, I'd put that a little ahead of the P-07 out of the box (though at $850, it's almost twice the price). On the third hand, Cajun Gun Works sells their Pro-Grade P-07 for just $675. I know you specifically said you didn't want a trigger job, but does that really count if you're buying it new with the trigger-job already done? |

Really we need a price point to narrow it down IMHO.

Do you prefer polymer or metal guns?

RA,
A few of the used, high quality guns in 9mm with your specs- 1. SW 6906/04 series- 12 rounds of double stack 9mm, light, accurate, reliable 2. SW 3913/14 series- 8 round single stack, carries great. 3. Sig 228/229/239- pick double or single stack at your option 4. Beretta 92 compact- 13 rounds of double stack 9mm. 5. HK USP compact 6. CZ-PCR and Rami, both double stack 9mm's Good luck in your quest. Merry Christmas- oldandslow |

I'm a biased CZ fan, so my first recommendation is either the CZ P-01, or the P-07. The P-07 has a better trigger out of the box, holds 15 rounds 9mm instead of 14, and sells for about $450 instead of $550. I prefer the P-01/PCR's ergonomics, but the P-07 is excellent in its own right and sounds better suited to your needs.
If you can find it, the Walther P99 is an excellent gun. It's striker-fired, but DA/SA with a decocker. All the other DA/SA guns I can think of are just a bit outside your price ceiling (though if you did go higher, I'd still suggest the CGW version of the P-07). |

No real preference, just lighter is better, all other things being equal.

All the good ones have been mentioned. A lot of these are larger than a Glock 19; for some reason, the 5" grip, 4" barrel size envelope doesn't have a lot going on. Most are bigger or smaller.
The PX4 Storm Compact is right there. This is a very underrated gun, especially when you consider the price. Convert it to decocker only and you have the best value in the class IMO. http://everydayloadout.com/beretta-p...m-compact.html The HK P2000 would be another that is that size with the flat magazine floorplates. The Sig P229 is a little bit bigger than a G19. I don't have experience with CZs but have heard nothing but good. |
