New Glock 23 Gen 4

I picked up a new Glock 23 Gen 4 marked USA on the side a couple days ago, It fits my hand perfectly and has decent round capacity in my caliber of choice. I may be in the market for a decent pair of night sights in the distant future, I am eyeing the XS sight system but not seriously right now... any thoughts?

Pictures to come...

Just my opinion but I really like the Trijicon night sights. I have them on my Glock and XD(M).

Oh good... I've always wanted to see a picture of a Glock 23...I'm sure the Model 23 looks way different than a Model 17, 19, 20, 22, 25, 27, 29, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 37, 38, 39...can hardly wait.

No need to be a smart ass. We like pics here. A good pic of a gun can be rather artistic. Don't put someone down for being happy about his new purchase.

, Congrats on the new buy. It's a great gun for sure. If I could recommend a set of night sights, they would be the Trijicon HD. They are pricey, but they are great. I've tried most of the ones out there and these are the best I've tried so far. Cheers!

Good job on the Gen4 23. The 23 is my favorite and the Gen4 just makes it even better. Mine wears a set of Ameriglo I-Dot night sights, love em! All my Glocks wear a set, so I'm kinda partial to them. I never cared for the sight picture with the XS big dot, it's not precise enough. Think of the I-dots as an affordable version of the Hienie Straight 8's.

It's a great fighting pistol and I'd put night sights on it as well. Very useful...well...after dark! We bought an after market 9mm, Lone Wolf barrel on my wife's for cheaper practice rounds...and it's as accurate as the original .40 tube. Both are capable of 1" ragged holes from the 10 yd line...but the night sights, are about the only upgrade I'd be interested in at this point. Best Regards, and congrats on a good purchase. Rod...and post some pics, we'd like to see 'em...

Another vote for the Trijicon HD sights. I think they allow a bit better accuracy than the XS but that is just me.

Thanks Uncle Malice! I would also like to know are USA made Glocks rare? I was going to show the proof marks and see what you guys think, do any of you have USA made Glocks?

I've seen them around. I don't think they are necessarily 'rare' but they are not as common as the Austrian ones. I have 4 Gen 4 Glocks and none of them are US versions.

If you follow any of the YouTube guys, I know TheYankeeMarshall decided to sell all of his Austrian Glocks in exchange for US versions - no idea why other than he likes US made guns. Heh.

New Glock 23 Gen 4

I haven't tried the Trijicon HDs. I bought these XS Big Dots after running about 2 hours worth of defensive scenarios, Hogan's Alley, and courses of fire with them on a G17 in a sim course. The sim guns were G17s converted to use laser and gas for recoil and hit markers. The slide cycles at full speed, etc. I was very impressed with the XS sights. One of my personal shortcomings as a shooter is my attention span. I have a tendency to let point of aim drift. The Big Dots help me keep focused, and are incredibly easy to track. During the range courses, I shot 5 round strings at various targets, from 5, 7, and 10 yard distances. The first course was slow fire. The second was all under 3 second pars. Time was never an issue, and I did not miss at all, even on 3 body/2 head from 7 yards in under 3 seconds, etc. Part of that was simply being able to see the front sight the whole time.

I haven't yet shot beyond 10 yards with them, but I most commonly shoot from 50 feet, so I'll probably do so on Monday or Tuesday. While people make a big deal out of the idea that the Big Dot might somehow blot out the sun and make accuracy a challenge, it is commonly missed that the scooped rear sight actually lets you see more of the target beyond the front sight than most rear sights do.

The reviews seem to be hit or miss on these . They work great for me at common SD distances. I'll try them out at 50 feet this week.
