mossy 500 conversion to perfect turkey gun
I have a 500a i have it setup with an ATI six position stock. This is designed for a slug gun durring deer season. With the 18.5 slug barrel it handles excellently. Today i put the regular barrel on for turkey and found it cumbersome to carry in thick brush. I would like to find two things to add to this gun.
1. An 18.5 inch preferably cammo barrel that will take a full choke. 2. An inhanced optic like a red dot for turkey season. I love the small scope and short bl for the slug gun and would like to replecate that feel during turkey season |

Its not going to be easy to find a full choke 18.5" barrel as 99.99% of barrels in that length will have a fixed cylinder choke...

Send the short barrel in and have it threaded for choke tubes.

Mossberg makes and sells (or check on the internet auctions) a 22" camo, threaded for choke tubes, Turkey barrel with Tru-glo front and adj. rear sight.
I bought one for my Mod. 535 (500 and 535 barrels are not interchangeable because of the 3.5" chamber in the 535) and saw some for the 500 in the auctions, when looking for mine. Short of having the 18.5" threaded for tubes - the 22" seems like the standard length for your purpose. |

Mossberg makes a 20" barrel that takes choke tubes, #90140.
http://www.midwayusa.com/Product/390...-vent-rib-blue I've used this barrel for turkeys for years, it's just the thing. |
