First success!

Took my .270 to the range after work today to try out a few different loads I cooked up over the weekend. I ended up with a 5 shot group of about 1.5" (all inside the 2" bullseye) minus one flier just outside the ring, I know I jerked that one.
This is my best group ever with this rifle.

110gr Sierra SP's over 53.5gr H4350, Rem once-fired brass and CCI200 primers.

I also tried out some 90gr Sierra HPs and 130gr Hornaday SSTs. The 90gr loads didn't group for crap (will adjust charge and try again).
Shot the SSTs at the 200 yard target and they did OK, definitely acceptable for hunting. I only brought two along, I'll load up 5 more and take back to try at 100yds and see how they group.

A buddy at work is going to lend me his chronograph so I can clock my loads.

Thanks to all those who have given me advice here on this forum.

Nice report. I am working on a 270 also using H4350 and Nosler 130gr bullets. I need one more trial at the range to decide but they are heading in the right direction. 1.595 group of 3 shots @ 50yd. all in the bullseye. I know this will end up more accurate than that too since I have a lot of room to adjust the charge without getting near max.

Just need to find more range time!

You need to try those 130 grain SSTs with H4350, you will like the results.

Loaded up a big variety pack last night, tweaked recipe of 90gr Sierra HPs, 110gr Sierra SPs and 130gr SSTs... I had planned on a range trip today, but I should have looked at the weather forecast. My yard is currently full of pea sized hail.
