I have a rifle I was given by my dad, it was said to be a Norwiegen Craig. How can I identify this gun? I have shot many deer and elk with this gun but a few years ago I fell across the barrel. Ever since the gun has been worthless, I have had a new barrel and a new scope put on and I just recently was told that the stock may need to be replaced. The markings on the action are: 1944 NC 687 and a K with a crown over the top and some type of lion or cat marking. Can any one help me with this, I want to get this rifle back in action so my wife can use it for elk.

Contact Mike McCabe, http://www.mccabeguns.com/ and see if he can't give you a price quote on that job.

He specializes in Mausers, but I remember seeing one Krag that he worked on a while back.
