what is this d'armes de St.-Etienne worth
I believe that this is a 6mm, made in approx 1897 but that is all that I can find on the net. Anyone have an idea of value and the best place to sell this at?

With that long cylinder it looks to be chambered in 5.75 Velo Dog. A French version of the Belgium Velo Dog. A small pistol designed to carry in your pocket while riding your bicycle in the country. Then when you are attacked by a large farm dog who wants to chew on your leg you can pop him one in the butt. These are low power rounds and not designed for self protection per say. They are about as powerful as a 22 short ( maybe less ). BTW, ammo can still be purchased. Value is not high on these guns, they are not rare and were made by the boat load. I'll let some one else guess on the value.

St. Etienne is a city not a manufacturer.

This revolver would have been made by the "Manufacture Francaise D'Armes & Cycles de St-Etienne" (usually abbreviated as "MF" or "Manufacture Francaise"), meaning "French Manufacturers of Guns and Bicycles of St. Etienne"; these were made in both rimfire and centre-fire, but aren't really the sort of thing that should be fired today, even if you could find the proper ammo. If someone collected velo-dogs, they might be wiling to pay $100 or so, but the real problem is finding that someone in the first place.
