Peep sight replacement

I have a Marlin 81 dl bolt action 22. The original peep sight is broken (# 12R )
I can't find the 12R any more. Williams makes a replacement #5D-81. Has anyone had any experience with Williams peep sights? If so did the Williams require any modification or was it a straight swap out. I have seen a picture of on and it looked like the stock was modified. I called Willams but no help. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Wilbur

Most side mount peeps require a little inletting , I think the Williams sights are as good as any . If they have a FoolProof for your gun you might want to give it a look , cost is a little more but it has all the desireable features .

I have found that if it's designated for a particular rifle, then no modifications are required. I have used Williams on many applicatins, inluding M/L's. I find them to be very servicable and good performance. Most of the Peep sights I have in service, are Williams and I have some old ones. Suggest you give them a call on your application. ...
