590A1 or Cruiser model

new to shotguns and looking for a shotgun for HD and range shooting...looking at the 590A1 and the 500 Cruiser model...looking for opnions on these 2 models ar any other models of shotguns for my purposes.....Also any word if the Benelli NOVA will EVER get a pistol grip??

The two guns are identical with two exceptions:

1) a heavier barrel on the 590A1

2) a metal trigger guard on most (but not all) 590A1s.

Do you require the extra weight of the 590A1? Do you need a 20" barrel? Will you practice more with one or the other? The BG will not know the difference and either is suitable for 3-gun matches.
