Interesting day with 50-70

Had some fun and gained some knowledge with my replica (Navy Arms/Pedersoli) Rolling Block #2. Shooting 2 bullets: Montana Precision 450s that are copies of the original and Buffalo Arms 480s. Shooting Black MZ with the 450s I can fit 65 gr. That's good for 1,200 fps, although my chrono does not like all that smoke (I do!). The crimp groove on the BA 480 cuts the case capacity, so I tried some IMR-4895 per Lyman. Only 800, and unburned powder left in the bore. Lit both with CCI 200. (Correction: Used CCI 250 with 4895.) But I think this big case wants black.

But - the 450s keyhole!. The 480s fly true. Not sure why. Both are nominal 0.512 and mic 0.513. So, I'm off to see how much black I can fit under the 480. Flat nose should be a better hunter anyway.

Anyone else working with this oldie?
