Colt LE6920
Question.
In my Colt handbook for my new LE6920, there is an interesting line on page three. It reads "The firearms in this manual are classified as "semiautomatic assault weapons" under the 1994 crime bill in the U.S.A. They are restricted to law enforcement/government use only. Be sure to comply with federal and local regulations governing their possession and use. These firearms are not for sale to the general public." Can someone clarify this, I was under the assumption that this was repealed in 04. The book does show the date to be Rev D Sept 03, do I have a new gun with an old book, a old gun that has just sat in a box for 10 years? What gives? |

You can call Colt with your rifle's serial number and they should be able to give you the date of manufacture. About your manual question. What I think is that Colt hasn't had a reason to revised the owner's manual since 2003. So they continue to print what they have.

I bought a new one back last summer and my manual is Rev. D Sep. 06 so it appears you have an older manual. My manual refers to the rifle as a "semiautomatic sporting rifle".

If the book is the 2003 revision, it was written before the sunset date of the 1994 AWB. Judging by this, I'm going to guess that your LE6920 is probably one of the older models from back when Colt was selling both SP and LE version with the different roll marks.
My 6940 has a 2010 revision booklet, but the 6940 booklet is specific to their monolithic upper guns. It has no mention of the gun being classified as an assualt weapon.

Don't feel bad I just bought a Hornady single stage reloading kit because it came there reloading manual and some other items I wanted. The main reason I want to get into reloading is for the 300BLK, but the manual it came with was the 7th edition the manual that has 300BLK data is the newest 9th edition what I thought I was getting.........lol

That is what I figured, that it sat on a shelf somewhere and was pulled down for the panic.
I have no issues with it being 10 years old, it is in pristine unused condition from what I can tell, I cut the tape on the box and took it out of the bag myself. Probably built better ten years ago anyway (experts opinions?) It did come with a pmag though, from what I can tell an older one, it has no dust cover, would it have come with one ten years ago? I am on hold with colt right now for 45+ minutes, still waiting to ask them.... |

Colt clarified.
They said it was a 2013 manufacture, that the *standard manual* could have one of many dates, not to worry. Cool, so I guess it is luck of the draw which manual you get, Oh well in a bad situation the manual would only be good for fire making tinder anyway right? As long as it works I am completely at peace with that. |

Quote:
If your gun came with one Pmag in the box, then it's probably a 2013 configuration model. It should actually say 2013 configuration on the label on the end of the box. Prior to 2013, it would have been shipped with two 20 rd. aluminum Colt mags. In that case, the packing department may have shipped it out with an older manual, either by accident, to use up old stock, or maybe they ran out of newer revision manuals in this time of outrageous demand. For the dust cover issue, are you taking about the rifle or the Pmag?

The pmag, the rifle has one....
Yeah, I had not considered gun production may have exceeded printing supplies on hand and they may have cracked open some old cases to meet demand. It is rock solid, clean, and operates WAY smoother than my S&W, do not get me wrong the S&W is nice and has never failed to function, but you can feel and hear little drag when charging, sometimes if you do not drop the bolt at least the last half inch it will not fully move forward, the colt just seems to all fit together better, and just seems to glide in no matter what. All of my newer pmags have the little snap on cover, these did not, one came with and the other four I bought from the same guy, all exactly the same, did not know if they were older or just a different model. |

Whether the Pmags were the older Gen 2's (Now called MOE's) or the newer Gen M3's, it should have came with a dust cover. Was the mag still sealed in it's plastic wrapping from Magpul?

"The GEN M2 MOE is identical in form and function to the older model PMAG except that the optional Impact/Dust Cover is now sold separately."

Ahhh, well that answers that, and explains why it was the *newer* one in the 2013 Package. I have been told that the cover also keeps pressure off the feed lips for unlimited storage, should I get some for these five if I plan on keeping them full, or is that a misconception?

Colt doesn't throw anything away. That's why they're still making 1911s with that retarded duck bill grip safety that nobody wants nor likes.
