Should these be loaded at the hotter range in the receipe book?

No, because you'll get another spring for your new bbl. See that you do. I think even Glock "All hail Glock!" has backed away from using the same springs.

Not with Glocks, they used the same recoil spring for 9mm and .40S&W.

If you do in fact (generations) use the same spring, yes you'll need to load up the ladder until it cycles. At least, I did. HBDC

A few years ago I picked up a Lonewold 9mm conversion barrel for my G35. Cheap old WWB functioned just fine and light reloads as well. If you look at Glocks 9mm and comparable .40 model ie 17/22, 19/23, and 26/27. The recoil spring thats in the 9mm is the same lb. rating in the comparable sized .40. Also the slides are the same size and weight as well.
