Truly weird holster science...

I've been carrying 12 extra rounds of reloads in the form of a belt slide across the rear of my normal pants belt. I cut a slot on the inside panel so that a pants belt loop could fit in the middle, and each block of six was connected via a Bianchi Speed Strip, letting me grab six rounds at once one-handed.

Worked great, but bending over tended to expose it. Turned out to be easier to conceal the NewVaq357 crossdraw than it was concealing the ammo and I had a fairly comical instance in which the ammo was spotted in public. I wasn't running the ammo on my right because I had a holder there for my flashlight and multi-pliers.

So. What to do.

I had found some sheets of THICK scrap leather at Tandy cheap. One of 'em was a near-perfect triangle. A light went on and weird stuff was committed:

It actually works, too. Being for concealed use I didn't bother much with aesthetics.

Holy scheiss,

You could carry a SBS in a rig smaller than that

As long as it works, that all that matters. Are you left handed, or do you cross draw the accessories just like you cross draw the gun?

The gun is crossdraw:

...and the whole set conceals quite well:

Everything on the "stack of stuff" is accessed right-handed. So is the gun. To load an SA revolver, you switch the gun to the left hand, go for ammo with the right, cram it in the loading gate with your right.

I can get to the flashlight and pliers (SOG Paratool) right-handed without "flashing" the ammo by reaching up under the jacket from the outside rather than sweeping the jacket back. To get to the AMMO I sweep the jacket back but at that point who cares about concealment?

If I have to, I can get to the pliers or flashlight with my off hand. I can also get to the gun off-hand if I need to, which I think is a major advantage of crossdraw.

I agree with that; definitely a big advantage. Just wondering how you access the gun and the light at the same time?

If I need both, I can go for the gun with the right and then quickly thereafter, light with the right. Not quite both at once, arms aren't quite long enough for that .

Did you use some kind of stiffener to keep the top from flopping,or does it have a shoulder strap?

No stiffener, no strap.

THICK leather. Bigtime thick. As in "a couple of sheets would probably meet Level 2 kevlar specs" thick.

Jim, that is the coolest, straightest up rig I've ever seen!

And, even though it's big, it looks truly concealable. That rocks.

Once it gets some age on it, I expect it'll start to soften and need something.
