SPAS 12
What are your experiences with Spas 12? How do you rate its performance as a HD weapon?
Any other comments regarding spas12 are appreciated as well as pictures of your personal Spas12. |

They are heavy and they are no longer imported in US. I don't know if they are still produced. It can be hard to get parts for them. They can be picky about ammo and the pump/slide is stiff because of the recoil spring.
I would like to have one for my collection because they are very impressive to look at. I would not choose one for a home defense weapon. |

Its a very cool gun shotgun to have.
I have hear for hunters here that it shoots nice, but is not a supper-shotgun. Its more a military-police grade shotgun. Its very heavy, and this is a great disadvantage. I hear that the Italians are now getting SPAS-15's to replace the SPAS-12 but i have any solid proof of it. Also, i hear that the field-strip its tricky. Personally, i found a SPAS-12, and i have the money, i will probably get it, since i like the design. But for hunting or home defense there are other more "suitable" guns. |

Uhhh.....
If it's not good for hunting, and not good for home defense. Just what is it good for?? Unless of course you have your own army or PD.

SPAS12
I have one and it's a fun gun to shoot. Use the sling, as it's a heavy and somewhat unbalanced weapon to shoulder or hand hold. It's true there're alot better choices than this grand daddy of tac shot guns.

Saiga 12 is great gun, but thats another thread.
Spas12 to me is a classic. Even if I am limited in size of shells it remains deadly for HD, and really cool. |

I have not shot one, but I've spent a fair bit of time with one in a local shop. My impressions were that it was insanely heavy and bulky, with lots of odd edges and bulges in all the wrong places and with an action too stiff for words. The cool factor lasted only until I picked it up, and in the end I was left wondering why anyone would actually want one.
