Ljungmans in the Sac Valley Vintage Military semi auto Silhouette match
My youngest son and I shot the match with our Ljungmans. As usual, he kicked my *****.
Match is 40 rounds, 10 rounds each at chickens (220 yards), pigs (330 yards), turkeys (420 yards), and rams (550 yards), shot with military semi auto rifles. Match winner come from the "as issued" vintage class. Here's a pic of the range... As you can see from the results sheet, there ain't much "vintage" left in the "vintage" match. |

I don't compete, but I have much admiration for those who still use those vintage arms.
And not to detract from the beauty of the range and competition from the match, but I think that any topic about a Ljungman at the range could show a picture of the gun! lol Swedish AG42B |

The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishes are rifle class (vintage-as issued, AR-10, etc). The match winner has to be shooting vintage, as issued The "match winner" and my son had the same score, but the tie was decided in the other guys favor based on "ram count" (he got 7, my son got 6) The match allows the rams to be "soft set", so that the .223 shooters can knock them over. I blew the "soft set" on one of the rams (my son was shooting 2nd) and my son "rang" that ram (he hit it, but it failed to fall over), so the hit didn't count. If I had done the job right, he would have scored a 29 and been the match winner. Luckily, he is the forgiving type |

You are quite right, a Ljungman thread should have a Ljungman in it. Here are ours... Mine is the top one, his is the bottom one. Last edited by Calfed; September 8, 2019 at 11:20 PM. |

Those are very cool rifles!
I shoot a 121 year old Krag Jorgensen in competition and there's nothing wrong with the rifle. The operator lets it down fairly regularly... |
