Legal or Not?

Uzi Mini semi auto pistol. Customer wants me to weld a bayonet lug on the front so he can clip on a Streamlite M6 laser/flashlite combo. Is this legal? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

It sounds legal. As long as he doesn't try to put a forward pistol grip on it and turn it into an AOW before getting it approved, it looks like it's OK.

Weld on a bayonet lug? Sounds like a drastic way to mount a flashlite.
I would think there would be some sort of rail that would be better suited for the task. Check out Brownells.

AFAIK there would be nothing illegal about it.

You ain't gonna know until you call ATF, so in your shoes I'd just dial the number and get it over with.

Agreed. Besides, they're pretty good about answering email questions.

Shouldn't be a problem unless there is some funky state law prohibition (and in FL I doubt there is). While it is an imported weapon, its neither a rifle nor a shotgun so 922(r)is not applicable and the federal AWB (922(v)) is now defunct.

Just don't add a stock or a forward vertical grip and it should be fine.

Legal or Not

Thanks for all the information. I will call my ATF contact. I think it's OK, too, but I really can't afford to be wrong. I'll post what they say. Thanks again.
