first time dissasembly of 1858

noticed after 200 or so rounds the action on my remington 1858 was getting a little stiff...so i broke down and completely dissasembled the pietta .44.

it was easier than i had anticipated...

had one glitch on putting her back together, i put the hand with the leaf spring in wrong (leaf spring facing muzzle) and noticed the hammer wouldn't
move...quickly rectified and all else went smooth.

i thought my glock had a spartan design...but these old guns are simplicity itself...i love this pistol.

cant wait to try her out next time with the clean and oiled internals...should shoot slicker than brand new.

Yep! The 58 is a revolver that will last for ever when taken care of. Love mine to. Broke down and bought a third one in July. One 8" target model, one 5.5"er, one 8" no target sights. All blued, all Pietta made. Now if I could just get the 12" model Might as well get the 58 Army Police model in .36 cal. That would be a nice set of revolvers. Can't beat them.
