Garrett Cartridges New Owner And Calibers
Randy Garrett is getting out and has sold Garrett Cartridges to Ashley Emerson who will be doing business as Garrett Cartridges of Texas. Great product and better yet, he will be adding .45 Colt and .454 Casull. This is all good news and here is link to message from Randy Garrett and from Ashley Emerson.

That's good news. I've used Garrett 44 Mag and 45-70 for some time. Glad to hear they will be offering 45 Colt.

It's very tough on Randy, though. He had planned on building his ammo till he pretty much died.

He does feel good about it being in Emerson's hands, if it had to go.

Ashley Emerson isn't a girl? If not then it's kinda dissapointing for some strange reason.

After reading the message, I think the company will be in good hands. He seems to have quite a background. Getting new offerings can only be a good thing.

Not really available my phone, e-mail, or text? Is carrier pigeon an option? I wonder how that will work in the long run. Not that it affects me much. It will all be sorted before I am in the market for such ?semi-custom? loadings. Last edited by johnwilliamson062; November 14, 2012 at 12:13 PM. |

They should do some 357 magnum... only because its my favorite round.
Really I like the 45-70 ammo. I have bought more than a box in my day.

Shot placement is everything! I would rather take a round of 50BMG to the foot than a 22short to the base of the skull. all 26 of my guns are 45/70 govt, 357 mag, 22 or 12 ga... I believe in keeping it simple. Wish my wife did as well... |

I'm talking about the letter from the new owners posted on the site and the information included with-in.

Ah.
Personally couldn't care less about his wife's business experience, I'm more concerned with his. I've met Emerson, and he has an extensive background in firearms. Also more than a fair amount of respect in the industry among those who know him. I have his front sights on some of my guns. He knows his stuff & I have no worries about the continued quality of the ammunition. As for the loads themselves, they are expensive because they're high quality, consistent, and they perform. My .45-70 Guide Gun that goes on high mountain ATV treks in bear country carries them, my custom Super Redhawk carries the .44 Magnums for similar duty. If you want sheer buffalo-stompin knock 'em down & step on 'em loads in those calibers & those guns, and you can spring for the costs, they come through. I've conversed with Randy a few times over the years. He believed in his product and that company was his life. Both he & Emerson are good people. One thing many don't understand is that in a small operation the more time the operator has to spend on the phone, the less product gets produced. Go through the channels he suggests, and if you can't wait for a reply then either go elsewhere or work up your own equivalent loads, if you think you can. Denis |
