Well, as you may have seen, I've started over with a new name (Ironbarr), but, at the time, with an active account under (AndyB), I wasn't sure whether to have auto login (cookie fix). Now I must always insert same (SA). Any way around this (Full Auto)?

Click the 'preferences' link just under the 'post reply' and 'post new topic' buttons at the top right of this page.
There, you should click the obvious line that will delete all your cookies. Then you should close down your browser, open it back up and enter TFL through the front door. http://www.thefiringline.com That should do it. Lettuce no howit werks. |

Sorry about that - the "obvious" escapes me. Having tried several times, including moving the cookie out of play, I still go directly to the main menu page using http://thefiringline.com URL; I don't go to the entry (rules, etc.) page. Must be cockpit trouble in this old fighter plane. What am I missing? By the way, my "andyb" cookie is missing (as it probably should be); the existing cookie is shorter. Sorry about this. AndyB |

Well, I finally got past my cockpit problem - but it didn't fly. After several attempts of deleting cookie(s) and confirming same with Explore, setting 'Yes' to the one year question, saving (w/confirm message), then going out of IE and back in, and going to www.thefiringline.com, I came to the normal front page with the Forums and other link buttons. Posting anything requires a manual input of ID & PW. In the past few days I changed the generated cryptic PW I'd received earlier for Ironbarr ... and the PW box shows the appropriate number of asterisks, but it apparently is not the new PW. When I manually enter the new PW I can post.
So I'm looking at two things here, one cookie-related - other PW related. FYI: After I had deleted the cookies I never got to that entry page where the rules are published (like a new register). What am I doing wrong? Andy ------------------ Ironbarr, aka AndyB |

I'm not sure if this will help with your PW problem, but do you have AutoComplete turned on in IE?

Sound like you're using Internet Explorer. Go to inernet options, file settings then view the files. Once you open up the view files, you'll see thousands of cookies that the delete missed.
You can also close your browser, right click start-then explore-then find Temorary Internet Files folder. Delete all the content of the temp folder. |
