Win x12rs15vp supx slug 15/10 - winchester ammo
Hello,
A newbie here who just purchased a 12 gauge Remington 870 Express 26 inches of smooth barrel. Had a question on what type of ammo to use ? I saw the WIN X12RS15VP SUPX SLUG 15/10 - WINCHESTER AMMO. It says 'rifled' slogs.... can these be used in the shotgun that has smooth barrel?? Am looking ammo for a home defense and hunting use... please advise. Thanks, Cheers  |

Any brand of 2.75 inch 00 buckshot.
Yes, any shotgun can shoot slugs. If you expect any sort of range or better accuracy you need a rifled slug barrel. I would choose 00 buck over slugs for HD purposes. |

Those slugs will not blow up your gun or you. Another slug may give better accuracy, most of us try a few brands until we find one that's tighter grouping.
Slugs are not a top choice for most HD usage. Most folks use buckshot, the archives are full of threads about this. And, contrary to HKguns opinion, I've found most smoothbore barrels and SOME slugs work adequately out to 50 yards with just a bead sight. HTH.... |
