Kick-eez recoil pad

Hello,

does anyone have any experience with the Kick-eez recoil pad? I just bought a Remington 870 Express Super magnum (3.5" chamber), and I'm thinking of buying one to replace the recoil from 3.5" shells. Are they effective?

No personal experience here, but the guys over on trapshooters.com sing their praises.The Pachmyer Decellerator and the Gooey pads also have their adherents.

What's more effective, nay, essential, than any pad is proper fit and form.

An old thread here on gun mount, and many on fit, may help to optimize things for you. So will shooting lighter loads until you acclimate. Then, a good pad will put the cherry on top.

BTW, the standard Rempad is not really bad.

I put a Kick-eez pad on an 870 Express Magnum and it does a very good job of reducing recoil. Possibly better than the stock "waffle" pad on the 870-P, but it is hard for me to judge that accurately.

OK My $.02. I put one on my (shudder) Remington Peerless O/U when I bought the gun. Needed to get more LOP so the smith added spacers and a Kick Eeze. the pad was absolutely fantastic for reducing recoil and mounting the gun. Was a vast improvement over the Remington pad.

Too bad the gun wasn't near as good as the pad

I have a Kickeze on my sporting clays gun, and it does a great job of absorbing recoil. They're made of sorbothane which is supposed to be better than rubber in soaking up recoil, but they are marginally less durable as well since they are a bit softer. Nevertheless, for absorbing recoil, they're the way to go. No experience with Decelerator or Gooey pads but if made of sorbothane, they're probably just as good.
