Mounting Red-Dot on M70

I like the idea of Red-Dots....Especially herein the Ozark Mts. of AR.....I wanted to mount one on my M70....Trouble is the fusalage on the Red-Dots Are fairly Short....Less than five inches...and closer to Four....Well, the Weaver 46 & 47 bases on my long action M70 are too far apart...Brownells' sells a one piece....a #96..only the right edge is cut out for the opening in the reciever(loading/ejection port).....46 & 47 both measure about an inch and a quarter....I dont think the integral rings on the BSA's will go down that small...thot about doing a good ol' Scout-type mount...but the base that Brownells' has for that, requires turning the barrel....any suggestions will be appreciated.

Kye-oat, you can make or have made a scout mount for your rifle. I've done this on several. You bore it on a taper to match the contour of the bbl, drill & tap 2 blind holes in the barrel with corresponding holes in you mount. D&T the mount for the bases and blue to match. George
