Colt SAA .38 Spl

I have a Colt SAA, .38 Special, 5-1/2 inch barrel, serial number puts the manufacture date in 1957. I'd like to find out how many (an estimate would be helpful) "second generation" SAA's were made in this caliber. Can someone on this forum help me with that or point me in the right direction for an answer? Thanks.

COLT PATENT FIREARMS MANUFACTURING COMPANY.

It is AMAZING what they know...

MY COLT SAA 5 1/2" 38SPL was made the first week of production of the then new second generation guns.

Not much help but my Colt reference says the 2nd gen. SAA were numbered 0001SA-73000SA with the .38 being the lest common.

SAA .38 Special talk makes me sad.

Had to sell mine to pay bills.

Was a 2nd. year production of 2nd. Generation, 4 1/2"Barrel , nickle, with hard plastic stocks and N.I.B.

Got 7 grand out of it and took care of my bills. Wish I'd of kept it

Seven grand?

Samuel,

As long as you had to sell, you did very well indeed. I happened to be in the right place at the right time and was able to follow up on a hot tip from a Colt SAA hobbyist, and ultimately made a good trade. Keep looking, they're out there at decent prices.

Bo, I did extremely well!

The guy bugged me for a couple of years and finally he made an offer that I couldn't refuse and I really needed the money to boot!

The planets and moons lined up for me that time.
