Help with information about this shotgun, please

Gun information:

-side-by-side barrel (double barrel)
-twin trigger
-break action

Inscriptions on the gun

(left side, just past the triggers)

PATENT APRIL 20, 1915

This gun was given to me by a neighbor who is 68 years old. He stated it was his father's but he had no use for it. It is a great gun, shoots true. Any information on the gun, or similar guns would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Savage has owned the Stevens name, as well as "Springfield", "Ranger", "Riverside", "Westfield", and several others, since as early as the mid-1920's.

Stevens was, at one time, the largest, most prolific gunmaker in the WORLD - and made literally millions of double barreled shotguns under a multitude of brand names for themselves, other gun companies, and chain stores like Sears, Western Field & Montgomery Ward.

The vast majority of the double guns were hammerless, double-trigger boxlocks - that most folks refer to generically as the "Model 311 type", after the most popular/latest version, the Stevens Model 311.

Without good, clear/bright pix of the action sides, and the overall gun w/stock(s), it will be hard to pin the exact model down further.
