Need a 9mm MINOR load!

Hi everyone,

Just put a 4" XD 9mm on order, and in the meantime, I want to start getting some ideas on loads.

For USPSA, I need to make 125pf for production.

I currently have W231, titegroup and bullseye at the house, so i would like to stick with those. However, I am not complete against TRYING to find a powder that you may highly recommend.

Thanks!!!
-George

Check the Hodgdon website and use their starting charge for the bullet weight you are useing and that will put you slightly over the 125000 pf. Use the oal that is listed and you will be fine.

Bullseye is great for smaller pistol rounds such as 9mm, and a pound will last you a LONG time. Just go on the low end of the data you already have; autos can be kind of finicky and if you have cycling/ejection problems just bump up the powder charge a little.

My 231/HP38 load for a G17 is 4.8gr MG 115gr fmj.Seated 1.135
It shoots real well(in my pistol).Recomend starting lower and working up in your pistole. This load makes minor in mine.

You didn't state what weight bullet you were using??? It will make a diff on reaching 125,000 for min minor. And by the way it's not fps it's weight times fps to reach 125,000.

Of the powders you listed go with Titegroup 3.2-3.3 gr and a Berry's plated 147 loaded to 1.160 OAL. If you would try another powder use 3.1 gr of VV N310 and everything else the same (the best 9mm minor load I have shot).

This is one of those issues that only you can solve. Since recovery time from shot to shot is important in getting good times in, I would suggest that you load 10 rounds of each powder that you have for the bullet weight and try double taps on each load to find the one that suits your shooting style and gun best. I personally like W231 for my 9mm, 40 S&W and 45 ACP loads, but that's me and my guns.
