Interesting day at the Ft. Worth gun show today. Uncommon Ruger 10/22
So my wife and I went to the Ft. Worth Gun Show at the Will Rogers Center today _12/29/2018. Parking was nuts and I almost left. We finally found a spot in the 6-story garage and walked to the Center.
The show was packed. I like that. It's been at least 10 years since we went to a gun show together. The wife was on a mission. Since we've moved to TX she wants a Carry permit so she picked out a S&W model 637 Airweight revolver, a snubby with an exposed hammer in 38 Special. I get to help with the concealment on her body . While she was filling out the paper work I pointed out to her the new Ruger 10/22 sitting beside her and explained it was a semi-auto rifle with 10 shots of 22 LR. She wanted that too to replace her Stevens Favorite single shot. But in the same booth I discovered a Ruger 10/22 Canadian Centennial (1 of 2000 made) with a full sized walnut stock manufactured in 1967. It looked brand new but it came from an estate sale and the seller did not have the box. I convinced her it was a better choice. So both the snubby revolver and the early model 10/22 followed her home as I made her do all the paperwork in her name for both guns. This 10/22 is a rare rifle for sure and looks fantastic for a 50+ year old gun. We will get both to the range soon. I will try and post a pic.

Nice find !!
Gunshow's like that I do enjoy. And uncommon is an understatement.... once in a lifetime is more accurate. |

Not sure why you felt the need to buy a "1 of 2000 made" collector grade 22 for a "plinker, dinker" unless it was cheaper than a run-of-the-mill off the shelf model.

I have an appreciation for things that are different and I don't believe in Safe Queens.
I'll probably mount it over the door leading to the horse area. That will make it real handy for the wife and be out of harms way compared to standing it in a corner.

A good and unique "plinker". Hard to beat that combo. That's very nice. Congratulations.

I would have been all over that rifle. It looks to have a 16" barrel and a walnut, not hardwood stock. Ya done good.

Yes, the stock is walnut.
We had it out last night in the back yard (several acres of open space) and she (the wife) was getting familiar with the gun. Only fired one magazine but it sparked an interest and she was ecstatic that all she had to do was pull the trigger for multiple consecutive shots. Today when I came home from work she was trying to figure out how to load the magazine because she saw a fox in front of the house and we have chickens in the back of the house. I showed her where the ammo is and how to load the magazine. Now she knows. She put her 410 single-shot shotgun in the rack in favor of the 10/22. So far she is doing everything right. I would really enjoy it if she shoots the fox with her relic 10/22.
