Colt Frontier Scouts

I've been seeing colt scouts of all flavors really rise in price the last few years. I know that they haven't been produced for awhile, but it still seems a bit odd, especially when there are so many other choices for SA 22s. I (over)paid $400 for a nickle (k-series) frontier scout a few years ago, but a few years ago you could pick up a good one for under under 300 on a good day. Now, the only ones I see for less than 300 are the beaters.

I used to recommend them as a good youth gun, since they are small and light, and a real colt at a reasonable price.

And your question is?

Prices went up in recent years just like other Colts. The publication of the book by Don Wilkerson "Scouts Peacemakers and New Frontiers in .22 Caliber" certainly helped to focus collector attention on certain models and variations.

I personally would buy a New Frontier if I were going to shoot one.

I think that is the normal route; stealing one to shoot is not a good idea

I guess the question was, "why?". Which you answered in your second paragraph.

Recently saw an abused Frontier Scout with a broken stag grip sell at auction for $700.00.Testosterone makes us do strange things.
