Reloader 25

Has anybody used Reloader 25 on the 264 winchester magnum? I would like to use it behind 140gr Nosler Partition. I seen the website, it has data on Reloader 22 but nothing on Reloader 25. It says that Reloader 25 is slower than Reloader 22.

i've never used rl-25 w/ the 264, but rl-25 is my favorite powder fr most of my rifles, and the one i try first if it is fitting...

here's the closest thing to relevant to your question i have... in the 7 mag, rl-25 delivers top velocities w/ bullets of 160 grains or higher. once you drop down to the 150's and lower, rl-25 is a bad idea: velocity will actually drop while you are still working loads up, no other pressure signs (i found this to be the case w/ 2 different 7 mags, 1 a 24" barrel, 1 a 26").

i don't know what bullet weights are available for the 264, but i'd say if you are working w/ mid-heavy bullets for caliber, rl-25 ought to really shine. incidentally, rl-25 is my go-to powder in the 25-06 for 115+ grain bullets.

as for data...typically, rl-25 starts where rl-22 leaves off. so, if the max load of rl-22 is 65 grains, the starting load for rl-25 will be 65 grains.

rl-25 is slower than rl-22, so you will get higher charge densities and more velocity. many would argue that higher load densities equate to better accuracy...yet another plus for rl-25.

i've found rl-25 to be easy to work w/, very forgiving, and doesn't swing too radically (muzzle velocities) in temperature extremes

anyway, good luck.

I agree Reloader 25 is the best for over bore cartridges

I agree with the comments above regarding R25. I've had nothing but good luck with it. Best performance with lowest pressures with many different cartridges, but especially with over-bore cartridges (eg., 25-06, magnums) and relatively heavy bullets. R25 also works with 30-06 with 180 grain and heavier bullets.

reloader 25 264 winchester magnum

I worked up a load with Reloader 22 my rifle is a Weatherby vanguard that I rechambered to. 264 winchester magnum it has a 26" shilen barrel 1-9 twist.

61 gr.
130 gr. AccuBond
Oal 3.303
Velocity 3,059 fps
my question is this is max load and I was wondering if I can use Reloader 25 starting at 61 gr. Is this possible? I heard that Reloader 25 is a tad slower then 22 and you can use max grains on 22 and use it as starting point for 25.

reloader 25 130 gr AccuBond. 264 winchester magnum

Thanks for the info Allenj. The load data is for a 140 gr bullet. I knew to reloading so my question is I can use this info for the 130 gr AccuBond since Nosler doesn't have a receipe for this powder?

The Alliant site lists 2 loads, one for the 120 grn Speer SP and one for the Speer 140 grn SP. The 120 grn load list a max of 63 grains of RL25, the 140 grn lists the max at 60 grains. If it were me I would start with 58 grains and work up a half grain at a time until pressure signs appeared. I don't think I would go past 61.5 grains of powder. You can also email Nosler and see what they have to say on this subject, they have always been very helpful to me when I asked their advice.

Reloader 25 130 gr accubond

I tried reloader 25 today loaded 61 gr oal 3.310" velocity was only 2,850fps group 1". Tha was alot slower then reloader 22 max of 3,059fps. I received a e-mail from Alliant powder onforming that starting at 61 gr would be fine but he listed 63 gr as max. I highly doubt I can gain 200 fps with 2 grains but will give it a try.

140gr xlc 264 winchester magnum

I worked up load using XLC, started with 66 gr IMR 7828 winchester brass CCI large Primers and an OAL 3.303 Velocity was 2,975 fps groups were 1" @100 yds. I really like this bullet and I have 4 boxes so not like I'm going to run out. If I can get this to push 3,200 I'll be happy. I figure I shouldn't have a problem because Max is 69 gr. Ill post pictures of groups
