Combo Question
I know this topic has been addressed many times in the past however with new makes and models continually hitting the market I am curious . If you were sitting up a rifle pistol combo of the same caliber what would your choice be ? Please be specific make , model , and why. I suppose knowing the purpose I have in mind would help. It would be do all pairing general self defense if needed , woods guns ( needs to be enough cartridge to cleanly kill animals up to Whitetail deer) .

I've got lever guns in 22lr,22 mag, 357 mag, 38/40, 44 mag and 45 Colt and several different handguns in each of them and plan on getting a Ruger PC9 as soon as the price settles down (I already have several 9mm handguns including a SR9c to choose from) It would depend on the intended purpose as to which I would choose.

Pistol and rifle in the same caliber was started back in the mid 1800s because it was easier for travels, cowboys, lawmen, ect. because weight and their ammo would fit which ever gun they needed most at the time. Since it could be months before they could resupply it made sense to have them matching. I have a couple for mounted shooting but to me they are for the fun of it.

For self defense or related purposes: I don't own either of these, but I would go with a 9mm Glock and a 9mm pistol carbine AR of some sort that takes Glock mags (like in attached pic). Doesn't necessarily have to be a Glock, but as long as the pistol and AR take the same mags. Heck, I don't even like Glock (doesn't feel good in my hands), but they do win in the magazine department when it comes to pistols.
For hunting: Lever action (Henry or Marlin) and revolver (S&W or Ruger) in a 44 Mag or bigger. |

I like combo's, or sets as I call them.
I have ten sets cased together,,,
All but two of them are .22 LR. One is a Hi-Point 9mm carbine paired with a Hi-Point 9mm Pistol. The other is a double-whammy: H&R Handi-Rifle in .357 paired with a Colt Trooper Mk-III in .357 H&R Sportster rifle in .22 LR paired with a Colt Trooper Mk-III in .22 LR. For rimfire sets I have: Mossberg 702 Plinkster rifle with a 6" Ruger Mk-III Standard pistol Henry Acu-Bolt rifle paired with a Colt Frontier Scout revolver Savage Mk-IIF rifle paired with a 4" Rossi Plinker revolver Mossberg 340-KC rifle paired with an H&R 949 revolver Beretta NEOS carbine paired with two NEOS pistols CZ-512 rifle paired with a Buckmark Hunter pistol CZ-512 carbine paired with a S&W 22-A1 pistol I also have ten matching pairs of handguns in centerfire/rimfire sets I don't do it for any practical reason, I do it because it's fun and makes me smile. Aarond .
