I just grind a punch to a point and harden it.. It's for added grip.

You can do that in 1/10 the time with a good electric engraving pencil. They cost $20.

I stipple wood grips and stocks with a dremel and ball head.

When i had Robby at Robar refinish my govt size, i had the front strap stippled. I like it better then checkering for a carry gun.

Stippling works well and doesn't eat up your hands if you shoot a lot of rounds. You can blunt the points of checkering which helps quite a bit.

This is a good professional looking job of stippling. It would work on a High Power as well.

What did you do for the borders? Just a fade out?

I didn't use any borders on this one. The stippling runs the length of the front strap and stops on the front of the trigger guard. I guess you could call it a fade out I don't actually have a term for it. I just stippled a straight line and ran my stippling up to that point.

Maybe not a fade out, that implies lighter stippling as it "fades" to the edge, maybe a hard stop.

A lot of people prefer Stippling over checkering because it's less aggressive and easier on the hands. Has nothing to do with the cost.

I prefered 30 LPI checkering on 1911s but I admire the quality of your work. Nicely done.

Keep your finger off the trigger till you are ready to shoot. 4. Identify your target and know what is beyond it.
