I have the ALG ACT trigger and the BCM PNT. Both are milspec triggers that are smoothed out a bit and then coated with a teflon impregnated nickle coating. They are both nice triggers and a definate upgrade from the standard milspec, but the edge goes to the BCM PNT, so much so I may swap out my ALG for another BCM trigger.

Primary Arms is having an Independence Day sale. Good sale. I bought another one of these for 99.99 and went the 3.00 snail mail route. Several months ago they had it for 89.99 which is a phenomenal price. Today's price is still great. Rated at 3-3.5 pounds. Measured my first one and it was either right below 3 or at 3. This is a flat trigger which I prefer however they probably have the curved version. These are single stage and I find no difference between them and my equivalent Timney.

Agreed. I've read that they don't stand up to blowback applications, but for a gas operated AR, I believe they are the best value.

I read about the second stage wearing away so that one would pull through the first stage and the sear would release without hitting the wall of added weight in the second stage. It isn't unsafe if you know what's coming.

I understand that problem to have occurred in a run more than a decade ago. I've tried to mimic second stage wear in a Larue fixture and I can't any additional wear past initial break in even with exaggerated pressure on the hammer.

I come at this from the other direction. I dislike single stage triggers. I bought an MBT because I needed something robust for a blowback action. The first stage is so light that it operates more like a single stage. I disliked it initially, but it is very consistent and breaks at fewer than three pounds total. I'm warming to it, but still wish the second stage were lighter and the first stage heavier.

If you don't like other two stage triggers, the MBT is the one to try.

I too recommend the RRA 2 stage trigger. I have a Timney trigger on my 2nd AR which costs more and I still prefer the RRA. The great thing about the Timney trigger it just takes a couple of minutes to drop in and shoot. All in all the Timney trigger is good but I do not believe it is better than the RRA 2 stage trigger.

Another vote for both the RRA NM and Varmint triggers.

LaRue's MBT blows all of them away, especially for $87 through Christmas.

Ed308, How is it better? Have you tried an RA140?

The MBT just seems like a good non-adjustable 2 stage trigger....what am I missing? Can you share a trigger scan chart?

Good info on triggers....LINK

The MBT-2S breaks crisply at 4.5 lbs (2.5 lb first stage, 2 lb second stage) and has a smooth and positive reset.
I like those numbers ed--especially if it's as smooth and precise as they say it is--so I'll give it a try.

PS--Any progress with your valk? I decided to pony up for 500 95gr MK's--they are on sale at Midsouth.

No, still sitting on my work bench in the garage. Still dealing with the move and a sore back. Plus slammed at work. Hope to get my reloading bench setup next week.

The article you linked to the MBT sums up my opinion about the MBT. Outstanding trigger at $87.00. I've tried 8 different trigger brands, some that cost hundreds more than the MBT. For $87 I get a reliable, smooth, crisp two stage trigger. I also like that it installs like a milspec trigger and not a drop in type.

Where is the $90 value? Because I'm seeing the price at $120.

Somebody has them for $90. Brownell’s just had them for $85.....not sure who is next...

Look for a discount code. More days than not Brownell’s has some discounts available.

RRA are good triggers. I have three of them and have never had any issues. However, I do have at least two friends who have had some problems with theirs after a couple of thousand rounds. If you look at some of the forums, others have had similar complaints.

With LaRue now offering their trigger for $87 it's kind of a no brainer. The LaRue will be slightly crisper than a RRA, and I haven't heard of their being any reliability problems.

Finally if you have the $$$ Giessele's makes a very good trigger, but they are more and IMHO the LaRue is nearly as nice.

I must be totally weird--I'm not "finding the love" in the 2 LaRues I installed on both my valk AR's--I find they simply have a long take up with a good break--I'm not crazy about the super-powered hammer spring either. Just my personal tastes though.

Are they at least $87 better than a "stock" trigger?

I have been tempted to order a couple while they are on sale.

Most definitely better than a stock trigger--and the manufacturing quality is impeccable--I just haven't developed a taste for them (yet) given I've grown accustomed to how other triggers work. To me, they feel more like a smooth take up to the break than other two stage designs I've used--but you know what they say--there's no accounting for taste. I certainly don't feel like it isn't a very good trigger--just that it doesn't quite feel like the other 2 stage designs I have.

That’s not a long take up...that is excessive sear engagement due to failure to control that in the design. Did you try the Rise RA140?
