Scope for bolt action .22LR for around $100

I have a new Marlin XT-22 that I want to put a scope on. Any ideas for around $100?

I wanted to ask here first to narrow down my search a bit.

I'm the happy owner of four Mueller 4.5-14x40 APV's on my 22's. They are usually ~$125 and the glass is spectacular for the price. If you do some searching over at Rimfire Central you will see the APV has a huge following over there.

For that price I would say vortexoptics.com the crossfire line is good. For a few bucks more the diamonds line is better. Also check out the warranty. I was told "if you run it over with your truck, they will honor he warranty". Though I don't plan on using mine as traction devices. Love my Vortex optics.

They can be found for less than msrp on the website. Shop around.

I can attest to vortexs warranty. Dumped my binos out of a treestand while bowhunting and bent the whole frame.

Sent them back on a Monday and received them back and fixed on Friday. Great service.

I started browsing Midwayusa since I had a $30 credit. Adding on Redfield's $40 rebate for buying a Revenge scope, I splurged on a $160 3-9x42.

Probably overkill for the .22 but I figure I can always put it on the AR as well.

I started slapping Bushnell Banner 3x9's on rifles that I acquired, because our local Bi-Mart always has them for $79.95. They started out to be a "just until I can afford something better" kind of deal. Thing is, I've got them on about six different rifles from .22's up to .308, and never have a problem with any of them. I've got pretty comfy with them, and can't bear the thought of spending a fortune on high end scopes. jd

A Nikon ProStaff, made for .22 rimfires, is well-made, has a life-time warranty and can be had for around a hundred bucks. I have one and can attest to its optical quality and sound build. Great scope for the money.

I have a Centerpoint 3x9x32 mil dot scope on my Marlin 25N, it is very sturdy, and the sight picture is very clear. I can also shoot sub moa groups with it at 75 yards... all for $55.

Nikon

The prostaff line is very good. If you get a shotgun model, parallax will be pretty good as is. There are some nice 2-7 compact scops with black or camo finish that will complement your marlin well.

I splurged on a NIkon Prostaff 2-7x for my Savage Mk II. I use it mostly for plinking, and it does eveything I need it to. I can't complain about it at all.

scope

Weaver RV7 2x-7X or Leupold M-8 4x used about that price point.

I got a Shooter's Edge PR 3-9x for $80. I use it on my center fire bolt action. Very nice optics for the money.

All the different recommendations kind of proves a point.
That optics have improved greatly and it probably doesn't matter, all that much, which brand is chosen.

LOL, took my Marlin XT22 to range today. Have a 6-24x44 BSA Majestic DX side focus on it that works quite well for me. Reticle is thicker than I'd like to have, but do OK with it. Last time I checked, Grafs and Sons has it onsale for around $90.......4-16 version of it around $80. The 6-24x44 sells for around $140 elsewhere. Own three of them and other two are on centerfire rifles.

I have a Mueller APV on my Marlin 25n and it works wonderfully for informal targets. The best feature is the adjustable objective which will focus very closely. If you are going to shoot targets/groups with your .22 then get an AO scope. If it's for squirrel hunting, you could get the excellent Nikon 4X rimfire scope, or you could save a bunch of money and get the great/cheap Simmons .22Mag 4X or 3-9X. Whatever you do dont get a centerfire scope without an adjustable objective or side focus. They are set parallax free at 100-150 yards and will be blurry for close range.
