Anyone use IMR 700X for shotgun trap loads?
I have Federal 209A primers, use AA shells, 1oz shot,
anyone use this type of combo for trap too? Any opinions?
These seem to work great in my Benelli. Thanks!

700X

I have used 700X since the 1960's in target trap loads for 12 ga. and various target loads for pistol. I have always been happy with the cleanliness and the accuracy. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it", seems to apply for 700X. Good Luck. Quantrill

I have used 700X in 12 gauge since 1983. If works just fine. I have also used it in 38spl, 9mm, and 44-40. Not the cleanist powder you can get, but it is realy very versitile. Recently my supply ran out, so I am now testing 800X and Red Dot in 16 and 12 gauge. So far, I don't know that there is much difference bewteen the powders in as far as my ability to hit a clay pidgeon goes. Red Dot seems to be slightly cleaner than 800X, and both are cleaner than 700X IMHO.

I didn't know there was anything other than 700X for trap loads. Have been using 19.5 grains with 1 1/8 oz. loads since 1978.
