Taurus takedown...
Hi, guys, need a bit of assistance here. The boss has a Taurus semi auto in 9mm, a copy of the Beretta 92 series. He's no gun fan, got it to protect the business. It came used and w/o the manual.
After at least a year w/o cleaning, it's developed rust on the exterior, hate to think of what it looks like inside. He gave it to me yesterday and asked if I could clean and lube it. Sure, if just to keep a decent handgun from destruction, but I've no idea how to take it apart. Can anyone help me here? Thanks in advance, Dave... |

You can download the manual for most Taurus pistols at http://www.taurususa.com as a .PDF file. Click on "Our Products" and follow the links to the model of interest. I'd feel very uncomfortable owning a firearm without a proper manual, especially when they are so easy to get on-line. Might also be a good idea for him to invest in a little range time with it.

Mike, thanks for the link, AND the advice.
Boss's a good guy, but darn near as stubborn as I. BTW, in his youth he won some smallbore shooting matches, but is now in his 40s. Did take him trapshooting once, and for the 3 years I've worked for him he's been saying we should go out shooting together. Hasn't happened yet, tho I admit running a small business like he does means he's married to it. |
