Anyone know if the Caracal pistol has a firing pin block? I know the Steyr M9 did not.

Yes, it does have a passive firing pin block. We are working on pricing structure right now. It should retail in the NEW Glock, M&P and XD range.

Thanks, Troy

Anything unique to this handgun? Do you have any accuracy claims, etc?

With all due respect, with so many established polymer platforms on the market, "one" edge Caracal might need is a great price. If it's "that" good, you can always raise the price in a few years once there is a demand.

Right now they are a mainly a curiosity to the shooting public.

I can guarantee it is more accurate than the other polymer pistols on the market due to the full length rails and other engineering aspects. The recoil impulse is lower as well due to the barrel sitting 4mm lower than other pistols. I shoot it more accurate myself than my G17 and the guys at the indoor range were impressed about how accurate it was. They were also amazed at the lower felt recoil.

I can't make you buy it but I would encourage you to give it a chance. When we get them out there, stop by your local indoor range and put a few rounds through one. I'm not trying to advertise here. I just want to answer questions AND concerns.

Thanks, Troy Sellars

Personally, I'm glad you are on this forum, and I hope you will be answer the questions we have. The statement above is very bold. What, besides full length rails is suppose to make this handgun so much more accurate than let's say an HK? Also, what are the "other engineering aspects"?

CaracalUSA:

Could you give us a link (when available) so we can find a local shop that plans to carry them?

I wonder if they call the Black grip insert Tactical and charge extra for it!

Looks interesting.

Trust me we will not be charging extra for black grip inserts!!! Actually that is all we are bringing in. LOL! I will have plenty more info as I get fully up to speed myself. I'm still learning the technical aspect of the pistol myself. As far as the accuracy aspect goes. I have not done ransom rest testing. I came to that OPINION by surfing the pistols around at the ranges and shooting them myself. All the comments have always been, "man this thing is more accurate than my &#^*! Pistol." It is not a scientific observation just a general one. Like i said just give them a chance. You won't be disappointed!!!!

Thanks,Troy

Honestly... It is a fresh of breath air to see a higher up in a firearms firm, even a new kid on the block, join a forum and post answers to questions asked directly from your *maybe* soon to be consumers...

Just wanted to say Props on being available to your consumers Troy, and I hope these guns are as good as your saying, I definitely want to check one out just based on you joining the discussion here. I hope you stay as things ramp up on production and distribution on your end.

My job as DO will be to keep information flowing. At this point and time we are Caracal UAE's only domestic customer. Everything else for them is military. I would expect realistically around a 25-30,000 units per year. We are actually going to be in a limited market so we will try to keep this as personal as possible.

Thanks, Troy

What exactly is a ' passive' firing pin block? Is the firing pin physically blocked from the primer until the trigger is pulled? Looks like a great gun, but it always bothered me that the Steyr did not have a firing pin block.

The SC looks promising... like it actually could be a SC and reliable.

Is it going to be launched at the same time or a later date?

A passive firing pin block will not allow the striker to proceed forward and strike the round unless the transfer bar is pulled fully to the rear. At this point and time the SC does not have enough points for import. We are working VERY hard to get it up to import spec. We feel it would be a great item as well!!!

Steyr M9 does not have a firing pin safety.

Here you see two different pistol slides and frames, the one without a firing pin block safety, the Steyr M9 is on the left, and the one with a firing pin block safety, Glock is on the right. Steyr M9 absolutely does not have any device to be thought as a firing pin block safety and its lever while the Glock has both.

Also there is nothing to be thought as a firing block safety in the slide assembly parts.

Here you can see the firing pin block and its spring in the Glock parts.

Thanks Lupus. That's what I remembered about the Steyr. I hope the Caracal is an improved design and has a true firing pin block.
