511 barrel length
I have a Rem. 511 .22 bolt action that I bought from a friend in high school. The barrel had obviously ben cut and recrowned. My 12 year old daughter shoots it. Anyway.... I just measured the barrel for the heck of it, 15 1/2". If I remember correctly, it has to be 16. Am I on the wrong side of the law?

Yep. Every now and then I see 51X barrels on gunbroker. They are interchangeable between any of the 51X series so you can easily fix the problem.

here is the barrel off of a 512. It will fit your 511.

What's funny is that this gun was stolen from me a few weeks ago when my deer camp was broken into in Mississippi. Sheriff's dept. caught them the next day and called me to come get my guns. Not a word about the barrel, they probably didn't know, and if they did, a rural Sheriff's dept. in MS probably feels the same as we do about those "Federal boys" (ATF). I will be getting a new barrel, the numrich barrels are probably not real Remington barrels are they?
