NEF parts
I have a New England Firearms “Survivor” chambered in .223 and it has a broken firing pin. Does anyone have any idea where one can be found. I’ve checked around the web and haven’t located one yet.

Thanks for the link but Ive checked there already. The one they do have is .010” larger than the one I have so I would have to have the receiver drilled. If worse comes to worse then that what I’ll do.

I’ve contacted a gunsmith and though he is 3 hours away he will build the firing pin. I’ll try to find one closer to me.

Have you looked at the H&R parts?

I’ve looked at H&R parts but the firing pins are not the same.
I started building one myself, I haven’t finished it but so far so good.

Well that was both easier and harder than I thought it would be.
Built the firing pin from a drill bit. Not owing a lathe, I used a drill and file to turn down the the shaft for the pin. After that I used a dremel tool and a chainsaw sharpening bit to grind the radius required at the rear of the pin (facing the hammer). Then came the careful and repeated measurements to set firing pin protrusion and overall length. Finally I heated treated in a very imprecise manner (really a shot in the dark) and installed. Tested it yesterday and rifle performed as it should and hopefully the pin will continue to function for years to come.
