Mosin Nagant scope?

I decided to put a scope rail on my M91. The rail I installed was one that replaces the rear sight. Can I use a regular scope with this or do I have to get a pistol scope? Also, I'm trying to keep this on a budget so I'm not trying to buy a scope worth 10x what the rifle is. What do you reccomend?

a regular hunting scope will not work. that type of scope mount is a scout style mount meaning you need a long eye relief scout style scope to go along with it. it doesn't have to be a pistol scope as even those require a very specific distance from your eyes. just look around for a long eye relief rifle scope, they are actually pretty nice, I don't know if you'll be able to find one in 10X or bigger as the way I understand it the scout concept calls for a low to medium zoom scope but you may get lucky.

I went with a cheap (NcStar 2-7x32 pistol) scope when I scoped my 91/30. After ~60 rounds the scope and mount would not hold zero Now I have an S&K mount and a Bushnell 2-6x32 trophy xlt pistol scope. That combo has held zero for 1000+ rounds. That combo is not cheap (~$275) is more than my mosin is worth, but I have old eyes and LOTS of 7.62x54 ammo to shoot.
