M18 Mauser

Terry Weiland wrote an article in this months edition of Rifle magazine about this rifle.
Has anyone else read it?
What I gathered is it's a decent value for the cost.

I read it, I wonder where the "street price" will land? The push feed segment of the market is pretty full of bargains like Ruger Americans, Howas etc. that perform exceptionally well given their price. I personally didn't see anything the new mauser offered that would make me pay extra over a Howa.

IMO they ought to work on making their classic crf more affordable.

I had thought they have been out for a couple of years now. I seem to recall reading about them previously.
Mause's website is a good place to look at them also.

It does shoot well according to the article, with factory ammo.
Trigger with a 3 position safety is decent and can be adjusted to your liking,
The butt of the stock opens up and has room for cable cleaning type equipment, which very well could pay for itself on a hunting trip that weather goes bad..

I'll second that motion. I think $9,000 suggested for their lowest price M98 in not only a little out of line but a lot out of line. A few years back I picked up a 1909 Argentine Mauser made by DWM. It came with a blank of very nice walnut. I took them to my gunsmith and he put it all together. After bedding the stock he sent it to Sterling Davenport for final finish as checkering. Final result was a very beautiful .280 Rem. that I'll probably take elk hunting this year. With long discontinued WMR powder, the old style Speer Grand Slams exiting the muzzle at 2900 FPS and grouping under an inch, some elk will be in extreme danger come hunting season. Total cost for everything just a bit over $3,000 and it is a genuine Mauser by Mauser.

I did the "faux Mauser" route.
Donor Whitworth MarkX action, Bell &Carlson stock, E.R.Shaw barrel, EGW 20 MOA base, Vortex Viper low rings, Sightron 4-20X50 STAC scope. Grand total was about $1,000.

Note, grand weight is 10lbs. Next one will be with lighter components!

MSRP of $700 and a 5 shot MOA guarantee sounds like a pretty good rifle for around $6-700 bucks. Who else has a 5 shot moa guarantee for that price?
