When it comes to selling moulds , even though I've buying, begging, borrowing and stealing them since 1967...I have only sold 1 . An old single cavity Lee made for the 45 acp, a 230 grain 1R roundnose . That 1R nose profile just wasn't right...I quickly picked up a used Lyman 2 cavity #452460 SWC in 200 grains , ( paid $12.50 for it) sold the Lee abomination for $2.00 at a yard sale (and felt sorry for the guy who bought it) and never looked back.
I thought that two cavity mould was the cat's meow for production and the design was accurate and fed properly in a 1911. Lee didn't have the truncated cone 45 acp designs back then, those are proper bullets . Gary |

Not trying to hijack the thread, but I have a question. When you mold you own bullets, does that mean you shoot unjacketed lead? Do you coat the lead with plastic or plate them or jacket them some other way? Thanks.

Yes, it means you will be shooting unjacketed lead bullets. Some guys coat their bullets with plastic, but I simply apply a lube to mine when resizing them and all is well.

Just ordered another Lee, the 310 grain 44 mag 2 cavity. Yeah I should have got the 6 cavity but I figured for tge money I could also get a 2 cavity for my wifes 40cal. Neither of these bullets will get shot much so the heck with it.
I think this puts me at...10? Now for some cheap .430 gas checks...

My first of 2 MP Molds arrived the other day. This one fills a need that only you guys with early Smith and Wesson Model 25's can understand. I recently bought a Model 25-2 in .45 ACP that was made in 1975. I came in the Mahogany Presentation case, and by all appearances is unfired. Like almost all of these .45's, it has large throats (.455 - .456"). So, if you want to use lead bullets, you need them to be larger than the normal .452" to fit the throats if you don't want leading to occur. I ordered Miha's version of the H&G #68 and special ordered it to cast a .455" bullet. My first casting session showed the bullets dropping from the mould at .456" - PERFECT!

Very nice! After I grab the cheap 40 cal mold Im going to get one of their 9mm molds that is made to produce powder coated bullets. Im determined to get a round nose cast bullet to work in 9mm for me.
Did you go with their brass mold or??

I only buy brass moulds. Once you've cast with a brass mould, it's hard to go back to steel or aluminum.

I agree that brass is better, and buy brass in my favorite mold designs. If it's one that I'm not going to be casting a LOT of bullets from, then I'll go with the aluminum and save the $22 difference.
