Electronic muffs SNAP SHUT all the time.
I have a set of the Peltor Tactical 100 muffs that work GREAT.
HOWEVER..... the headspring is SO strong and the muff mount wires SO easily moved that they continually try to "get away" from me and snap shut into the compact muffs-inside-band position. They SNAP closed with such force that I worry about damaging the electronics. I see no way to adjust them to NOT pivot inwards so powerfully and just stay extended for use. Has anyone jerry-rigged something to hold the muffs extended so they can be clamped on the ears without fighting the tendency to turn inside out and SNAP shut? I'm....considering.... epoxying the mounting arrangement of the wire muff holders to keep them from folding up. Any suggestions? Other than getting a different brand? They are fairly new and all but that problem has made me very happy with their sound control. |

I would call Peltor and talk to them before you start applying epoxy or trying fix the issue yourself.

Doing that now.
...duh... Had a hard time trying to find a link to them when....PRESTO.... my brain said look on the stuff that came in the box. These seem not to be 3M's most volume product. Gotta call back "during hours." Central time. OK will do. |
