Trade An AK For A CZ?
I may be moving back to communist NY for good. I have an Arsenal slr 107fr in 7.62x39 that would be illegal in NY (flash suppressor, bayonet lug, and folding stock).
I haven't put it up for sale yet, but I could get a NIB CZ P01 in trade for it from my LGS, although I'm not sure if I want a P01 or a PCR. I likely could get at least $800 for it from a private sale. I am a little hesitant to put it up for sale to private owners, fearing ya-hoos and nuts coming out of the woodwork. 1) would you do the trade, knowing you are leaving $ on the table? 2) those who carry a CZ do you prefer the P01 or the PCR? It would be used for a possible carry gun down the road. This is what the AK looks like: http://www.onpointsupply.com/cart.ph...tegory_id=3167 Last edited by Mr.Blue; July 7, 2011 at 08:04 PM. |

Personally, I would sell the AK privately then buy the CZ. Tell the buyer that he has to show a valid photo i.d. card to buy the rifle. Write down his information. Save it in case there is a problem down the road. Get the CZ PCR. Problem solved,

If doing private, maybe perform the sale utilizing a notary public?

You could just make the AK NY legal. Just replace the folding stock with fixed one or pin the existing one, replace the flash hider with a muzzle nut or compensater and weld or pin it, and remove the bayonet lug via hacksaw, files,or dremel. Then all you have to do is buy pre-ban mags which you can buy at any Ny gun show or gun shop.

Thanks, but I prefer not to convert it. I have a lot of pre-ban mags for my ARs. I hate NY.

A question, can you carry in NYS? If not, then just sell the AK and get a full size CZ 75 or 97 for range use.

Move to anywhere in PA that allows commuting to where you need to go in NY. Just stay out of NY or NJ. Keep your evil black rifles AND get a CZ.

Sorry you have to go. I've always wanted an Arsenal, but they're a bit out of my price range.

Stick with your dream and get a CZ 97. You won't regret it.
Sell it privately, through the sales forum here or at THR.

Like the PCR a bit better because I don't need a rail HOWEVER I am about to replace my PCR with a Canik C100 which is a clone that has the alloy frame but safety instead of decocker. Since I have a bunch of CZ's that are safety versions I decided my PCR should go as I have less than 100 rounds through it and I never carry or range it anymore.
IMO No matter what you decide you want Sell and Buy is usually a much better proposition than trading. |

I don't know. While I prefer the safety, the decocker doesn't bother me as I don't carry CZ cocked and locked, but DA in the safety notch which makes for a pretty easy, and shorter DA pull.
That Canik 100 does look interesting though.
