New leather for a Blackhawk....
While being considered "foolish" for the practice, I still carry a Single Action. Just got this holster yesterday, the No.1 Shuck from Barranti Leather, for my .45 Colt Blackhawk:
And, on the hip: Seems to be a fine, well made holster. And a beauty in simplicity. Bob Wright

I am looking for something like that as well. That is a beauty. If I may, where would I purchase that holster (and belt)? I have your same 45 Colt BH with the 4-5/8 barrel.
Hardly foolish. That is some firepower there. Per my ongoing thread, I see my Single Six and BH 45 Colt more as hunting back up (or even primary for fun). But regardless, I could hardly say that you are under gunned! I would prefer to carry a single action in cross draw, Louisiana style, butt to belly button, 45 degree on left abdomen for right hand draw. But I could be completely happy with your rig. J |

This is Barranti's web site:
http://www.barrantileather.com/ Crossdraw doesn't work for me for several reasons, (1) My coat is usually open which would display my gun butt, and (2) The way I draw makes cocking the hammer a mite slower in crossdraw manner. My draw is the old "punch to the mid-section" draw and fire. I must stand in front of my Sunday School class, and think a display of a gun butt might be a tad disconcerting to some folks. They know I do carry, as does my Sunday School teacher, but we sort of conceal our guns. Bob Wright

All right, Mr. Wright, based on the
photo you provide of said holster and weapon on your hip, I see the weapon is belt fed. Is that legal? |

I understand you are attempting to conceal, I am not. I have other pistols/revolvers better suited for concealed carry. I open carry when hunting or out and about in the woods. No need to conceal for that purpose. You make good points with a coat, but I can reach into my coat as fast as I can flick it away for side carry, about the same. And I am open carry. Again, thanks for the info. J |
