Anything I have to lube to decap/resize, but 7.62x39mm is the most troublesome for me. I love carbide pistol dies! I like loading everything I load for, but that one step is the only thing I don't like.

I'm with Mike on the .38-40. My rifle just mangles the crap out of the neck when it ejects. I usually wait until I've almost forgotten what a PITA it was to load last time before I do a batch. Thankfully, I don't shoot it much, so I don't load it much.

Hate? Reload? Hate to reload? If you actually really hate to reload-- why do it? There are no stupid questions...................oh wait -- there are!

I hate having to trim the FL sized the .223 cases. They don't go into my Lyman case trimmer straight because of the small case head, so I have to use my Lee trimmer. The Lee works great, but it's much slower.
I neck size for my TC encore so I don't have to trim those.

I don't hate it, but it is does take a lot more care- 25/20 winchester. The cases aren't that small that it is a problem, but they're getting there, The real reason is the brass. It is very thin in that caliber, and can be damaged very easily when sizing or seating a bullet.

.30 Tokarev followed by .22 Hornet, .30 Carbine
Oh, let's just say I don't HATE to reload them, but they're the most trouble for me. The .30 Tok is hard to get expanded just right to it'll hold the bullet, the Hornet is easy to crush or mangle, and the .30 Carbine is tough to sqeeze a .309" cast bullet into.

Am I the only person using RCBS X-Dies?
Am I the only person using X-Dies? You guys with the more common stuff can use X-Dies and only trim brass once until it fails or gets retired.
I use X-Dies for .223, 6.5x55, .308, .30-06. Trim once and don't worry about it anymore. I also use the RCBS Lube Die in my Pro2000 so I do not have to manually lube cases. Finished rounds get tumbled for a while to remove the lube. Station 1 - Lube/Decap Station 2 - X-Die Resize/Prime Station 3 - Charge Station 4 - Seat Station 5 - Lee Crimp Tumble for ~15 minutes |

Not sure what X-die has to do with which round you most "hate" to reload ...
But, I just started to use the X-Die for .223, .308, and .30-06. Went through and trimmed about 3,000 cases and loaded about 400 so far. Anxious to get out and shoot some so I can run them through the X-Dies without a trim, and then measure them. Same setup on my turret press, minus the lube die.

I suppose the 223/5.56 is the biggest pita for me to reload. I go through so many, and the cases require so much more than others it seems. Swaging the pockets, deburring the flash holes, trimming....and looking into the small necked cases is almost impossible, or at least not as easy as others. But it's gotta be done.
Now the 308/7.62 is a hand loaders dream it seems to me, I do not understand azredhawks difficulty with this round. I too, load for an M1A and I think it's a pc of cake. Try Imperial sizing lube, or Bullshop's Lube from the castboolits board. Bullshops lube is the schitzky! As good or better than Imperial and a great deal costwise. I use his lube to size 308 and heavy 45/70 loads (which have expanded so much that the bench flexes when sizing) Highly recommended. |

I'm with Gun 4 Fun on the 25-20, got to be really careful with the brass.
Also 380 are finger pinchers. I use to have problems with 204s but eliminated the ruining of brass while seating by going to a competition seating die. 410s are a pain, I use to shoot a lot of skeet, 4 gun, 410,28,20 & 12 gage. I hated loading 410s finely gave it up and started buying them. Now I just load for 20 & 12 gage (in shot guns). I dont understand the problems w/223s, like any other round, proper set up at the start eliminates the problems

.25 ACP for obvious reasons. I guess it would help if I had smaller fingers and could find a powder that was more forgiving. Maybe bp would help.

Anything I have to trim. I love reloading everything but it seems the trimming process is the part I like the least.

Well........least favorite to load for is my .22 Hornet......always end up pinching fingers trying to hold those little teeny bullets on the case mouth. I am sure I will also hate trimming brass for it.........if I ever do. Have some cases with 10+ loadings thru them, and I have never trimmed a Hornet case yet.

I am still in the hopeful stage. I have the dies, I have done the initial trim for a batch of brass, but have not shot any of them yet to be able to actually try out the Die. It seems totally revolutionary and I'm surprised it is not used or talked about more. The research i did turned up all favorable experience, and not one person with a unsuccessful experience. Trim once and get brass to last 2-4 times longer. What's not to like? Well, $35 per cartridge isn't fun, but it should save me that much many times over if it makes the brass last even a few more loads. Spencerhut, one question I have is the instructions say to trim .020" under max case length, which is generally .010" less than the trim to length. Have you found any reason for this, or could I use the standard trim-to length?

By contrast, I've never had any trouble with the .38-40. Only use Starline brass, lost very few cases and none of my guns mangle the brass. My Browning 53 .32-20 is a little rough on cases though.

It would have to be the .380 and 9MM. To big hands and small cases.

hate??
Not hate but certainly the most trouble - .30 Carbine. That stiff little case.....any case that requires some lube even in a carbide die is more trouble than normal.
Maybe I should put down .25 ACP - harder to handle and the powder charge is minute. I use factory ammo 99% of the time. Pete
